What whiteboard animation?
From the word "white", "board" and "animation".

White is a color, and it the purest of all colors.
Board is a background, either used to write upon or draw.
The animation is a moving text, image, or graphic.

My definition of whiteboard animation is
 the process of which texts, images, or objects are moved on a white background created either for yourself or an advertisement for a brand. 

"Whiteboard animation is the process of which an author physically draws and records an illustrated story using a whiteboard or whiteboard-like surface, and marker pens" - Wikipedia explanation. Wikipedia gave a more understandable article about on whiteboard to create illustrations.

"A whiteboard animation is a video that brings drawings and text to life with movement, on a digital canvas." - VideoScribe explanation.

• They help you grow your brand. More awareness.
